About Johan

Surf Coach, Tour Guide & Adventure Expert

Johan was born in Osa, Costa Rica, Central America. His dream has always been to surf, help other people reach their greatest surfing potential, and enjoy the beauty of nature. As a teenager, he traveled to Tamarindo Beach, where he began working as a surf instructor in one of the most well-known surf hotels and programs in Costa Rica. He has a certification in CPR and ISA and is an experienced lifeguard. He currently has more than 20 years of professional experience in the tourism industry, being a private tour guide, and teaching beginner surfing lessons in Costa Rica. In addition, he regularly trains through running, swimming, calisthenics, and yoga. He has traveled to many countries to improve his surfing, including Bali, Mexico, Peru, and El Salvador, and has clients from diverse cultures around the world. His greatest passion is to see other people happy through sports and adventures.

Pura Adventure Surf School is a fully registered and legally insured company through the Costa Rican Department of tourism. We offer adventure tours throughout all of Costa Rica. We also offer private or group (advanced through beginner) surfing lessons in Costa Rica. We provide rash guards, surfboards, drinks, videos/photos, and transportation to multiple destinations. Johan is also able to travel to regions outside of Costa Rica to provide expert surf coaching and instruction services.
